Ridiculous Malkin rumor

Well, I've seen this rumor crop up in a couple of places now, including here and here.

(1) I don't think Malkin will be traded

(2) If he were on the block, and you were in charge of the Oilers, what would you be willing to offer?

I'm guessing this is nowhere near enough for EDM to land Malkin, but let's pretend he's on the market. What does everyone think of an offer something like:

Stoll, Torres, Pouliot, 1 or 2 1sts

Would you be willing to go further than that? Not that far?

In any case, that probably would leave enough money for EDM to go out and sign Dumont if they so desire, or bank the salary savings, for an "off the top of my head" lineup something like:

Smyth Horcoff Hemsky
Sykora Malkin Lupul
Moreau Reasoner Pisani
Dumont Schremp Mikhnov

Smyth Horcoff Hemsky
Sykora Malkin Lupul
Mikhnov Reasoner Pisani
Moreau Schremp Winchester

That's hilarious, I agree, the Pens aren't trading away their second of the 1 2 punch down the middle. If their draft pick this year pans out too, that's going to be a disgusting team to play against ;). Say hello to the new offensive powerhouse in the NHL.

Good news is if Malkin's doing it and crossing over, Mikhnov could be following. He seems like such a good kid. With all the dues and ups and downs he's been through sounds like he's a battler and will work hard and he's very willing to learn. In the translations I've seen his comments on who cares about my points, we lost at the World Championships, and his comments on how he wishes he'd had more time with coaches and how much he learns from them is golden.

If there's a higher power out there that's benevolent, Mikhnov will be the real deal in the NHL, he's a great kid taking a huge risk coming to the NHL the way he is if he is this year, and I hope it works out for the Oil and him.

Spectors trade rumours (first link) also says that Tarnstrom has signed with Lugano.

When I ran it through an on-line translator it said "The contract is on two years and Tärnström has fairly to break the contract about the comes up interests from NHL." Which sounds like he left an escape clause for the NHL.

My worry about Malkin is that he might be a half bubble off plumb. We don't have any idea about the pressures he is under and this may have been a complete manipulation by his club team (that second contract at 2:30am and the circumstances surrounding it will be a terrific bit of info I'd bet) but it sure as hell looks like he's a bit of a loose cannon.

I have no idea what "a half bubble off plumb" means, but I assume it's something negative. It makes me laugh though, that's for certain.

Anyway, I'd do the above trade for Malkin in a second, but it's just not gonna happen. He may be half bubble plum or whatever, but if he's truly Ovetchkin material, it's worth the risk.

Malkin is a talent but the question is whether he has the jam - to be fair that's a question that can be asked about a lot of young players - but I seem to remember him folding up pretty badly at the WJC. That was playing against boys - how is he going to like playing Moreau and Smith for example, to name just two.

He'll put up his points, to be sure, but not sure, as LT says, if he is right on.

Half bubble plumb would refer to a level and the bubble that shows, well, that you are level. So if the bubble's a little off, then you are not, so to speak. Never have heard the expression but I presume that's its meaning, LT?

Word is now from his agents that Malkin's club was holding his passport hostage, and that Malkin only got it coming into Helsinki, so he snagged it and ran for cover. If that's true it explains why he signed that new contract, and the fact that it was in the wee 3:00am 'ish hours of the morning make it suspect as well.

If all that is true Malkin sounds a lot less flaky.
